By Belize Live News Staff: Belize City police have identified the man whose body was discovered Friday morning near a drain on Kelly Street, close to the Chon Saan Palace restaurant, as 56-year-old Jorge Montero. Montero, who had reportedly been ailing, collapsed while walking and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities were called to the location shortly after 9 a.m., where they found Montero lying in a fetal position, fully clothed, with his head resting in the bushes near the drain. Initial investigations, including a review of security camera footage, indicate that Montero was walking along the street when he suddenly collapsed.
Police said there were no visible signs of injury or foul play and have concluded that his death was due to natural causes. Family members confirmed that Montero had been experiencing health issues prior to the incident.
Montero, described as having a beard and grey and white hair, had several tattoos, including a skull, a clock, a cross, and the name “Britney Sachie” on his right hand, along with a heart and dagger on his left hand and a tiger’s head on his chest.
Police continue to urge anyone with additional information to come forward as they finalize their report.
