Accident victim and dedicated educator seeks community help for recovery

By Belize Live News Staff: The victim of a road traffic accident on November 28, teacher Xiomara Molina, is reaching out to the public for assistance to cover the costs of surgery and recovery after a devastating collision.

While the accident was not her fault, Molina explains that the financial and emotional burden has fallen solely on her and her family. She shared, “Unfortunately, the other party’s insurance had expired, leaving us to face this overwhelming situation alone.”

Molina has already undergone one major surgery, but additional medical attention is necessary. Her injuries, particularly to her face and eye, require another surgery that is crucial for her full recovery. The mounting costs of this surgery and ongoing medical care have strained her family’s resources.

She expressed her hope for community support, saying, “I am passionate about teaching—it’s what I love most. I hope to recover fully and return to the classroom.”

The accident occurred on Wednesday night, November 27, in Bella Vista, Toledo District, near the Toledo Teacher’s Credit Union. According to police reports, 45-year-old electrician Jose Samuel Hoppington was riding a red Skygo 150cc motorcycle when he crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with Molina, who was driving a black Lifan 150cc motorcycle.

At the time, Molina was traveling behind another motorcycle with two passengers. Emergency responders transported both riders to the Independence Polyclinic, where Hoppington succumbed to his injuries. Molina sustained injuries to her forehead, left leg, and left forearm.

Molina is now appealing to the public to help her raise funds for her next surgery and recovery. Contributions can be made to the following account:

Belize Bank Account: Xiomara Molina – 185109010160000
Or you can reach out directly at 633-2074.

The teacher’s family and friends are hopeful that the community will rally around her, helping her heal and return to teaching. Molina remains determined to overcome this challenge and continue doing what she loves most: educating the next generation.

The family also reminds the public to keep road safety a priority to prevent accidents like these and urges all drivers to ensure their insurance is up to date.
