By Belize Live News Staff: A road traffic accident between a police vehicle and a civilian car on Daisy Hornby Street Extension is under investigation after damages were reported to both vehicles.
The incident occurred around 7:40 pm, involving a white police Ford Ranger pickup driven by a 38-year-old police constable and a gold Chevrolet car driven by a 50-year-old self-employed resident of Belize City. Both vehicles sustained minor damages, with the police truck’s left front bumper and fender affected, while the Chevrolet car’s rear bumper was slightly bent.
Preliminary investigations suggest the collision happened when the Chevrolet car attempted a sudden right turn into the lane of the oncoming police truck. Traffic authorities documented the scene with photographs, and statements were taken from both drivers. A Notice of Intended Prosecution was issued to the civilian driver.
Authorities continue to urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.
