By Belize Live News Staff: A quick bathroom break turned costly for a young restaurant worker in Independence Village.
The 18 year old cook left his backpack on an outdoor table late Friday night. About an hour later, it was gone, along with his iPhone, cash, chargers, keys and personal documents.
Surveillance cameras at the restaurant allegedly captured a man walking off with the bag. The worker told police he recognized the suspect and knows him by the nickname “Chinchy.”
Police have recorded a statement, and a man is wanted for questioning.
Losing an ATM card, social security card and food handler’s licence means the worker now faces the added hassle of replacing important documents.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Independence Police or Crime Stoppers at 922.
