By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Coast Guard has issued a nationwide call for prayers for Seaman Gianni Vanegas, who has been in a coma since an accident early Saturday morning. Vanegas, currently on life support at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), is being described by her colleagues as a strong and valued member of the Coast Guard family.
In a statement, a Coast Guard spokesperson urged all personnel and members of the public to join in prayer at 9:00 p.m. local time. “Whether you are overseas, on patrol, or at home, let’s lift Seaman Gianni Vanegas in prayer,” the statement said. Messages of support and encouragement have flooded in from across the country, as colleagues and citizens rally for Vanegas’ recovery.
“This is definitely a battle we all hope you overcome,” wrote a Coast Guard officer in a public post, expressing hope for divine intervention.
Vanegas’ condition has drawn attention nationwide, with many highlighting the critical role she has played in the Coast Guard. The community remains united in solidarity, praying for a miracle for one of Belize’s own.
