By Belize Live News Staff: On November 25th, San Pedro Police responded to an incident at the beach in front of the central park in downtown San Pedro. They found first responders attempting to revive Manuel Choc, who was later pronounced dead. Choc was under the influence of alcohol and had gone for a swim in the sea. A bystander retrieved his body and began performing first aid, but Choc remained unresponsive.
Island Emergency Services attempted to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful. Choc’s body was examined and showed no signs of injuries or physical violence. He was transported to Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II, where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding Choc’s death remain unclear, as the shallow swimming area in front of the central park is often visited by tourists and island residents. Several witnesses are confused about the situation and hope a post-mortem examination will clarify the situation.
The police will continue their investigation.
