$200,000 in damages: Suspect arrested in San Pedro fire investigation

By Belize Live News Staff: Police have arrested and charged 28-year-old Isela Catzim in connection with a devastating fire that destroyed three buildings in the DFC area of San Pedro. The fire, which occurred earlier this week, resulted in the loss of a two-story home, a four-bedroom house, and a small shop with a bedroom, totaling an estimated $200,000 in damages.

Catzim is now facing five counts of arson following an investigation that linked her to the suspected deliberate act. Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the incident, leaving the community searching for answers in the wake of the destruction.

The fire has left several residents and business owners reeling from the losses, with the affected community rallying for support. Catzim’s mother, Sandra, has appealed for help and urged anyone willing to assist to call or text 631-2707.

The case continues to unfold as investigators work to determine the circumstances leading up to the fire.
