By Belize Live News Staff: A devastating fire in the DFC area of San Pedro destroyed three buildings on Monday, prompting an arson investigation. Firefighters were unable to contain the blaze, which started in a small wooden structure across from the Ambergris Stadium and quickly spread to neighboring properties.
No injuries were reported, but the damage was extensive. The affected buildings included a two-story home, a four-bedroom house, and a small shop with a bedroom. The estimated loss is valued at $200,000.
A woman has been detained as part of the investigation, police confirmed on Tuesday. The fire’s rapid spread and origin have led authorities to suspect foul play.
Authorities continue to examine the scene and question witnesses.
