By Belize Live News Staff: Mayor Wally Nuñez has publicly addressed a lawsuit filed against him by Brittney O’Daniel and Corner Lot Limited, describing the claims as outlandish but reaffirming his commitment to due process.
In a statement shared on social media, Nuñez asserted, “We are a free country, and all persons have a right to make allegations, no matter how outlandish. I have secured legal representation to address the claims, and I am certain that I will be vindicated by due process.”
The mayor emphasized his dedication to the people of San Pedro and clarified the distinction between his personal matters, business ventures, and the responsibilities of his office. He suggested that the lawsuit revolves around a dock-related dispute between neighbors, an issue he says falls outside his role as mayor.
“I have a commitment to the people of San Pedro and will continue to lead in a conscientious manner. This lawsuit seems to confuse the public about a dock situation between neighbors with claims that are not within my purview as mayor,” he noted.
Nuñez extended well-wishes to the claimants, encouraging them to work with the appropriate regulatory agencies for their development needs.
The lawsuit, which remains in its early stages, will be addressed through the courts in the coming weeks.
