Chalillo, Mollejon, and Vaca dams spilling; water levels slowly declining

By Belize Live News Staff: Fortis Belize Limited (FBL) has confirmed ongoing water spilling at its Chalillo, Mollejon, and Vaca hydroelectric facilities, while assuring that electricity generation remains unaffected.

In a statement issued today, FBL reported that water levels at all three dams are gradually decreasing. Despite this, a severe flood warning remains in effect for the Macal River and its tributaries, as advised by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).

Residents are urged to stay informed through NEMO’s updates, which provide critical local flood information.

FBL emphasized that it is closely monitoring dam operations and will continue to update authorities as necessary to ensure public safety.
