By Belize Live News Staff: In response to the imminent threat of Tropical Storm Sara, the Belize Port Authority has issued a directive suspending all water taxi services within areas under the Tropical Storm Warning. This suspension will take effect by midday on Saturday and will remain in place until the “All Clear” is given.
According to the notice, all seaports in affected areas are required to close by 2:00 PM on Saturday. Additionally, a Small Craft Warning is in effect, urging mariners operating smaller vessels to seek safe harbor immediately and avoid venturing out to sea.
In line with this directive, Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has also mobilized its teams, resources, and equipment to prepare for any potential impacts of Tropical Storm Sara. BEL emphasized the safety of their workers, stating that repair teams will be dispatched to restore power only after the storm has passed and conditions are deemed safe.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and follow the safety advisories issued by both the Belize Port Authority and BEL. Public safety remains the top priority as the country prepares for Tropical Storm Sara’s landfall.
