By Belize Live News Staff: Good morning, Belize! While you might be waking up to sunny skies, don’t let that fool you. Forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch at the National Meteorological Service is calling for increasing showers and even thunderstorms as we move through the day.
A light northerly airflow is bringing some moisture into the country, setting the stage for developing showers. Inland areas will be the first to see these showers and possible thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Tonight, the shower activity shifts to the south and some coastal areas, lingering into Wednesday morning.
But before the rain arrives, expect warm temperatures, with highs reaching 89°F (32°C) on the coast and a sizzling 93°F (34°C) inland. The good news is that those showers will bring some much-needed relief from the heat.
Now, for the big news: the National Meteorological Service is keeping a close eye on a disturbance in the Caribbean Sea. This system has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours as it moves westward.

Thursday and Thursday night will bring more of the same: cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms across the country. The rain chances increase slightly Thursday night.
