San Ignacio school suffers major burglary, loses equipment worth $11,000

By Belize Live News Staff: Bishop Martin RC School in San Ignacio is reeling after a burglary that resulted in the loss of 17 projectors, a complete PA system, computers, and cash. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $11,000.

The theft occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, with surveillance footage capturing three masked individuals fleeing the scene around 2:22 a.m. The incident was discovered the following day, leaving the school community devastated.

Principal Abimael Waight expressed dismay, noting that the theft has left the school in a challenging position. Despite the setback, he remains hopeful, calling on the community for assistance in replacing the stolen items.

“We’re essentially starting over,” Waight said. “But I’m optimistic that kind-hearted individuals will step up to help us rebuild.”

The school is now seeking public support to recover from the loss. Anyone with information about the stolen items or who wishes to assist can contact the school directly.
