Gunshots fired at police residence in Corozal Town

By Belize Live News Staff: In a disturbing incident early Tuesday morning, the Corozal Town home of Corporal Martin Marin and Inspector Kimara Lopez came under gunfire. The attack occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the Finca Solana area.

Corporal Marin reported hearing four gunshots while preparing for bed shortly after 11:30 p.m. Upon stepping outside, he noted the fading sound of a motorcycle engine heading toward the Family Market area.

Evidence of the assault was clear: Inspector Lopez’s white Jeep Cherokee sustained damage, with one bullet piercing the rear and exiting through the front windshield. Another round struck the home’s front wooden screen door, lodging in the main door behind it.

Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the motive and identify those responsible for this apparent targeting of police officers.
