Elvira Mulholland charged with attempted murder after shooting husband

Bail denied: Psychiatric evaluation ordered for woman charged with attempted murder

By Belize Live News Staff: Elvira Mulholland, an American citizen, has been remanded without bail after being charged with the attempted murder of her husband, Canadian national Jeffrey Mulholland. The incident reportedly occurred on October 25 along a coastal road, following what police described as a domestic dispute.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hilberto Romero, police responded to reports of a shooting on the roadside, where they found Jeffrey Mulholland, 59, with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. Investigations revealed that Elvira allegedly took her husband’s licensed 9mm pistol during the altercation and shot him.

ACP Romero stated, “An investigation was carried out, and Elvira Mulholland has since been arrested and charged for the crimes of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, grievous harm, and robbery.” The accused was taken into custody and has since appeared in court, where she was remanded pending trial.
