By Belize Live News Staff: Police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Loren Timoteo Vanegas, a salesman from Dangriga Town, in connection with the murder of Manuel Fernandez Jr. The crime allegedly took place following a heated altercation at Fernandez’s meat shop on Ecumenical Drive in Dangriga.
Fernandez’s body was discovered on Sunday morning, stuffed inside a plastic barrel with multiple stab wounds. Police were alerted to Vanegas after receiving a tip and reportedly observed him “acting suspiciously.” After searching his premises, they arrested Vanegas and processed the scene.
Investigators believe that an argument between the two men escalated into a deadly confrontation that ultimately led to Fernandez’s death.
