By Belize Live News Staff: Relatively moist and unstable weather conditions will prevail over Belize, according to the National Meteorological Service. Today, expect mostly sunny skies with a few cloudy periods, with isolated showers or thunderstorms anticipated inland this afternoon and in southern regions by tonight.
Marine conditions remain calm with east-southeast winds between 0 to 10 knots and a light chop on the sea, producing waves between 2 to 4 feet. Coastal temperatures are expected to peak at 90°F, with lows around 74°F, while inland areas will be warmer, reaching 93°F. In the hills, temperatures will range from 80°F during the day to a low of 68°F at night.
In the tropical weather outlook, Hurricane Isaac is tracking northeastward at 20 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph, placing it approximately 785 miles west of the Azores as of 3:00 AM. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Joyce continues to move northwest at 10 mph with winds of 50 mph and is located about 1165 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands. A new area of low pressure may develop over the western Caribbean in the coming days, with the NMS keeping a close watch on its progression.
Looking ahead, Sunday will bring cloudy skies at times with occasional showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the north and central regions during the day, shifting towards southern coastal areas by nightfall.
