By Belize Live News Staff: A fatal traffic accident late Saturday night near Savannah View Restaurant and Uno Gas Station on Hopkins Road has left one resident dead and another injured.
Police responded to the scene shortly before midnight to find a Saturn SUV with front-end damage and a heavily damaged motorcycle in a nearby drain.
The two individuals on the motorcycle, identified as Amand Arana and Tkeejan Martinez, were rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital. Arana tragically succumbed to his injuries this morning.
Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV, traveling west to east, collided with the motorcycle as it attempted a left turn. A urine sample was obtained from the SUV’s driver. The investigation is ongoing.
