In a defiant post shared on social media, Panton firmly stated, “I have NOT resigned. I will NOT resign. I will NOT be forced to resign.”
Panton emphasized her dedication to the people of Albert, noting that they had elected her to represent them in the National Assembly and vowed to continue serving to the best of her ability. She also highlighted her commitment to representing “ALL Belizeans” and reaffirmed her belief that democracy will ultimately prevail.
“There is NO room for dictatorship in a democracy,” Panton said, standing firm on the principles and values that she believes are at the heart of the UDP.
Her stance has sparked widespread conversation as she remains firm in the face of internal party changes. Last week, the UDP issued a release stating that she is no longer part of the party and invited candidates to apply for the Albert constituency standard bearer position.
