Gunfire erupts in Louisville Village, Corozal: Teacher’s vehicle targeted

Shots ring out near Social Lounge; Three men detained minutes later

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Louisville Village, Corozal District on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Fausto Burgos Jr., a 39-year-old teacher, reported hearing three loud bangs around 9:30 pm while inside his home with his wife and two children. Believing the sounds to be firecrackers, Burgos went outside and heard a motorcycle speeding away.

Upon further investigation, Burgos and his neighbors discovered three .45 caliber expended shells on the street. Burgos’ dark blue Toyota 4Runner SUV, registered to his wife, also sustained damage from three bullet holes in the rear glass and driver-side windows.

The scene was processed by the Scene of Crime (SOC) unit, and a motive for the shooting remains unknown. Police are currently searching for the perpetrator(s).
