By Belize Live News Staff: A quick toss of a plastic bag did not get past Orange Walk police on Monday night.
Officers on patrol noticed a man riding a bicycle away from a well known drug location on Sittee River Street. As soon as he spotted the police mobile, police say he dropped a small zip lock bag on the ground.
Officers ordered him to stop and picked up the bag, which held suspected cocaine.
According to police, the man claimed he had bought the drugs on behalf of another person.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the substance weighed 0.40 grams and was sealed in his presence.
Marvin Rafael Pec, 36, a security worker of Fonseca Street, was charged with possession of controlled drugs.
Police say patrols targeting drug activity in Orange Walk Town will continue.
