By Belize Live News Staff: A man who left his bag at his cousin’s house during a rainstorm says he came back to find his belongings missing.
The 24 year old construction worker told Trial Farm police he returned for the bag on Friday morning. His cousin handed it over, but it was open, and his phone and earbuds were gone.
When he asked about the items, his cousin said he did not have them. The man then searched the house himself and found his earbuds under a mattress in the bedroom. He said his cousin did not answer when asked how they got there.
He returned on Saturday to ask for his phone, but was again told his cousin did not have it.
The complainant, who has known his cousin for 19 years, told police he believes he took the phone since he was the only one with access to the house.
On Monday, Darrel Vasquez, 18, was formally charged with theft.
