By Belize Live News Staff: Police impounded a motorcycle in Trial Farm Village on Monday after checks revealed that its insurance and licence had expired.

According to police, officers were conducting mobile patrol on Manatee Boulevard around 2:40 p.m. on September 7 when they noticed a black Jiyo motorcycle with licence plate CZL M 0978 travelling ahead of them.

The rider was ordered to stop and complied. Police say he was unable to produce a driver’s licence when requested.

Further checks reportedly showed that the motorcycle’s insurance with Insurance Corporation of Belize had expired on July 10, 2026, while the motorcycle licence had expired in June.

The rider was identified as 18 year old George Richard Orlando Lopez of Carmelita Village.

Police informed him of several alleged traffic offences, including failure to produce a driving permit, using a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance and using an unlicensed motor vehicle.

Lopez was escorted to the Trial Farm Police Station and the motorcycle was impounded at the station compound.
