By Belize Live News Staff: Belize and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation following a meeting between Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and incoming US Ambassador Rudolph Andreas Bauer.
Bauer, who is set to serve as the next United States ambassador to Belize, met with Fonseca after presenting copies of his credentials.
The discussions focused on several areas where the two countries are already working together and where both sides see room for further progress.
Among the topics raised was the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact, along with opportunities for new investment aimed at supporting Belize’s economic growth and development.
Trade and investment were also on the agenda, as well as continued cooperation on security matters.
Both sides also discussed strengthening collaboration in other areas of shared interest as Belize and the United States continue their longstanding diplomatic relationship.
Fonseca welcomed Bauer and expressed support for continued engagement between the two countries during his tenure.
