By Belize Live News Staff: The friendship between Belize and Brazil was on display in Belmopan this week as a top Belizean military aviator received one of Brazil’s highest air force honours.
Lieutenant Colonel Kenroy Smith, who leads the BDF Air Wing, was named a Grand Officer of the Order of Aeronautical Merit during a Brazilian Aviation Day ceremony at the Brazilian Embassy on Friday.
Ambassador Olyntho Vieira presented the award.
The decoration is given to those who have made outstanding contributions to military aviation, and the BDF says Lt. Col. Smith earned it through his work advancing military aviation and building professional ties between the two countries’ armed forces.
The BDF also thanked the Government and people of Brazil for their longstanding support to Belize in defence, security, training and military professional development.
It described the award as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations and the importance of international military partnerships in promoting regional security.
Congratulations to Lt. Col. Smith on this remarkable achievement.
