By Belize Live News Staff: A routine welfare check in San Pedro led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man on Saturday morning.
Police say officers were checking a property in the San Juan area when they noticed a man seated near the rear of an open wooden structure.
He was allegedly holding a silver-coloured object and appeared to be smoking.
Officers examined the item and described it as a small cigar-shaped object wrapped in aluminium, with a burnt tip and dark residue inside.
Police suspected it had been used for smoking crack cocaine.
The man was taken into custody and transported to the San Pedro Police Station, where the item was measured, packaged and labelled as evidence.
He was later charged with possession of a pipe.
