By Belize Live News Staff: A short exchange on Black Water Street is all it took.

Police say officers were on patrol in a marked pickup through Trial Farm Village around 8:15am on Monday when they spotted a woman riding a red AKT motorcycle coming toward them.

They pulled over and asked for her driver’s licence and the papers for the bike.

Her answer was straightforward. She did not have updated insurance.

She was cautioned and taken to the Trial Farm Police Station along with the motorcycle.

Seleni Uliana Chable, 40, a domestic of Coyocville, was charged with using a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance.

She chose to remain silent.

Insurance lapses catch a lot of riders out. It is easy to let it slide a month or two, right up until the morning a patrol pulls alongside you.

When did you last check your insurance date?
