By Belize Live News Staff: A 25 year old Orange Walk woman told police on Sunday that the beating she reported was not the first.
She had come home around 3:30pm with her two children after watching football at the Louisiana field. Her common law husband of 11 years was there and began accusing her of an affair with a 70 year old neighbour.
She said she tried to talk him down because the children were in the house.
Instead she was punched twice in the left eye, then in the mouth and about her body. She reached for a pair of scissors within arm’s length. He took them from her hand, cutting her right index finger, which bled heavily.
She begged him to stop. He kept going.
He then dragged her into the bathroom, told her to bathe, and locked her in.
Minutes later a vehicle pulled up and police knocked. She came out to find officers grabbing him as he tried to run.
Her injuries were certified as wounding. A 30 year old labourer has been detained.
She has requested court action.
