By Belize Live News Staff: Those five words landed a San Pedro man a criminal charge on Saturday morning.
Police say an officer on patrol in the Boca Del Rio area around 8:20am approached a man standing in the area, identified himself, and told him that if he had no purpose there he would be detained for loitering.
The man refused to leave.
He was cautioned and escorted to the San Pedro Police Station, where he declined to sign the acknowledgement form he was issued.
Edgar Sedacy, 31, a labourer of the San Mateo Area, was formally charged with loitering that same day.
He chose to remain silent.
Loitering remains an offence on the books in Belize, and how it gets applied has long been a subject of debate.
