Showers over southern Belize as moist airflow prevails

By Belize Live News Staff: A moderate and somewhat moist east to northeasterly airflow prevails over Belize today, according to the National Meteorological Service.

Expect sunny skies with some cloudy spells through the day, turning cloudy at times tonight. A few showers and thunderstorms will affect mainly the south this morning and again tonight. Elsewhere, activity will be generally isolated.

Inland temperatures will reach 95 degrees Fahrenheit before dropping to 72 overnight. The coast reaches 89 with a low of 82, while the hills stay at 82 and fall to 68.

At sea, winds will blow from the east to northeast at 5 to 15 knots. Seas will be slight to a light chop with waves of 1 to 4 feet.

Wednesday brings cloudy skies at times with a few showers and thunderstorms expected mainly over southern and central areas, then mostly over the south Wednesday night.

Forecasters are tracking two systems in the Atlantic, one near Bermuda and another south southeast of the Cabo Verde islands. Neither poses a threat to Belize.
