The Belize Police Department reports that a 28-year-old Guinea Grass Village woman came to the Orange Walk Police Station on Sunday, August 9, 2026, to put the previous day on record.
Her account begins at about 3:00 p.m. Saturday, at home, when her common-law husband of six years arrived and turned aggressive. First, she reported, came the black motorcycle helmet, gripped in his right hand and driven against the left side of her head. Then the punch to her left cheek. Then his hands closing around her throat.
She fought loose, and she ran, out of the house, fearing for her life, carrying nothing but the escape itself.
Sunday morning brought the bitter epilogue. Returning home at about 9:00 a.m., she was met, according to her report, not with remorse but with an order: take out your things, I do not want you again. Within hours, she was at the police station instead.
Police recorded her statement and detained a man for common assault. With no charge yet laid, no names appear here, hers least of all.
