The Football Federation of Belize announced that Andy Albeño has been appointed as a VAR and AVAR referee at the Concacaf Under-20 Championship in Toluca, Mexico, with the federation hailing his expertise, his commitment, and the growing confidence Concacaf places in Belizean match officials. ⚽
Here is why the assignment carries weight. The video assistant referee is not simply a ref watching TV. It is a certified specialist role, trained on the review technology, drilled in protocol, and trusted to advise on the calls that decide matches: goals, penalties, straight reds.
