By Belize Live News Staff: Belize Telemedia Limited says its net profit has climbed from $5.4 million to a record $36.9 million over its latest five year strategic period.
The company presented the figures during its 20th Annual General Meeting held on September 17, reporting major changes across several key financial indicators.
BTL says the $36.9 million net profit represents a 581 percent increase from the $5.4 million recorded at the beginning of the five year period.
Earnings per share increased tenfold from $0.07 to $0.70, while cash and cash equivalents reached $62.8 million.
At the same time, BTL says its long term debt fell from $77.8 million to $15.6 million.
Shareholders approved a dividend of $0.37 per share for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026.
Beyond its financial performance, BTL says it has strengthened its national telecommunications infrastructure and diversified its services. The company now operates more than 180 mobile sites across Belize.
CEO Ivan Tesucum said BTL intends to build on the results by improving reliability and customer experience while accelerating innovation.
The company says its next phase will also include greater use of artificial intelligence, automation, cloud technologies, cybersecurity and advanced analytics as it continues its transition from a traditional telecommunications provider into a broader technology company.
