By Belize Live News Staff: Police in the Toledo District have arrested and charged a man with drug possession following an anti-drug operation in Bella Vista Village.
The Belize Police Department reports that on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, officers conducted a search at a residence in the village under the authority of a warrant. During the operation, police searched a room occupied by Aaron Michael Sabal, where they said they discovered a small aluminium foil wrap on the floor. Inside, according to police, was a white substance believed to be a controlled drug.
Sabal was advised of the alleged offence, cautioned, and informed of his constitutional rights before being taken to the Independence Police Station, with the suspected drugs kept in view throughout. At the station, the substance was weighed in his presence and logged as an undetermined amount of suspected crack cocaine, then sealed and labelled as an exhibit.
Police went on to charge 44-year-old Aaron Michael Sabal, an unemployed resident of Bella Vista Village, with the crime of possession of controlled drugs.
It is important to note that Sabal, like anyone facing a charge, is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty before the court.
