A quiet June for Belize as hurricane season begins

A quiet June for Belize as hurricane season begins

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can breathe a little easier after a calm start to the Atlantic hurricane season, with the month of June passing without any storm or hurricane posing a threat to the country.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30 each year, and the first month has come and gone quietly for Belize. No systems developed that threatened the nation, allowing the country to ease into the season without any cause for alarm.

While the calm is certainly welcome, forecasters and disaster officials often remind the public that a quiet start is no guarantee of a quiet season. Historically, the Atlantic tends to become more active as the months progress, with the peak of the season typically falling between August and October. That makes it all the more important for Belizeans to stay prepared, rather than let their guard down.

Now, all eyes turn to July. As the new month gets underway, the country will be watching to see what it brings, hoping the peaceful conditions continue while remaining ready just in case.

For now, though, there is no threat on the horizon. The National Meteorological Service continues to monitor the tropics, and there is currently no expectation of any tropical development in the immediate term.

As always, the advice remains the same. Belizeans are encouraged to use these calmer periods wisely, by reviewing their hurricane plans, stocking up on essential supplies, and staying informed through official sources. Preparation is the best protection, and a quiet June is the perfect time to get ready for whatever the rest of the season may hold.
