By Belize Live News Staff: The battle for a place on the People’s United Party’s municipal election ticket is officially underway.
After closing applications for the March 2027 Municipal Elections, the PUP confirmed that 115 Belizeans have put their names forward seeking the party’s endorsement.
The applications include 15 people interested in running for mayoral positions and 100 seeking seats on town and city councils throughout Belize.
The figures suggest strong interest in local government and could lead to competitive internal discussions as the party decides who will represent it in the upcoming elections.
Party officials say the next step is a thorough review of every application by the National Campaign Committee.
Candidates will be assessed before recommendations are sent to the National Executive, which will make the final decisions on who advances.
