By Belize Live News Staff: The Toledo Police Formation is continuing its efforts to build stronger relationships with young people through educational outreach programs designed to prevent crime before it starts.
On June 11, police officers visited San Marcos Primary School, where students from Standards Four, Five, and Six participated in interactive presentations covering a range of important social and legal issues.
Led by Deputy Officer Commanding Administration, Inspector Casey, the team focused on helping students understand the real-life consequences of gang involvement, drug use, and criminal behavior. Officers stressed that many young people become involved in crime because of peer pressure and poor decision-making, highlighting the importance of choosing positive influences and staying focused on education.
Students also received information about sexual assault awareness, respect for others, and the importance of maintaining appropriate behavior both in school and within their communities.
Traffic safety was another key component of the presentations, with officers reminding students about road safety rules and encouraging them to be responsible pedestrians and future motorists.
Police say community outreach initiatives such as these are essential in helping young Belizeans make informed decisions and avoid situations that could place them at risk.
The Toledo Police Formation has pledged to continue working with schools across the district to educate students, strengthen community partnerships, and promote safer neighborhoods through prevention and awareness.
Officials believe that by reaching children at an early age, they can help reduce future crime while encouraging students to become productive citizens and leaders within their communities.
