By Belize Live News Staff: A potentially dangerous situation near San Pedro ended safely over the weekend after the Belize Coast Guard rescued seven people from a vessel that was taking on water.
The incident occurred on Saturday when Coast Guard personnel received a distress call from the San Pedro area.
Responding teams quickly located the vessel and carried out an evacuation of everyone onboard. Among those rescued were two minors.
All seven passengers were transported safely to shore, and no injuries were reported.
The Belize Coast Guard says the operation underscores its role as the country’s frontline maritime safety agency, with personnel prepared to respond to emergencies at any hour.
Beyond search and rescue operations, the Coast Guard continues to play a critical role in protecting Belize’s marine resources, deterring illegal activity and maintaining security across the country’s waters.
