By Belize Live News Staff: An internal manhunt is underway within the Belize Police Department after a rogue officer reportedly attacked his own colleagues at a local gas station.
The incident unfolded over the weekend at the Puma Gas Station on Freetown Road, where Police Constable Louis Pascasio became embroiled in a heated verbal and physical clash with responding officers. According to official reports, Pascasio resisted law enforcement presence and struck an officer first, triggering a wider brawl in the parking lot.
The Professional Standards Branch and Eastern Division investigators have moved to address the breach of conduct. ASP Stacy Smith announced that criminal charges, including aggravated assault and wounding, have been prepared against Pascasio based on a formal complaint filed by the victimized officer.
Security footage retrieved from the gas station reportedly shows the entire fight clearly, removing any ambiguity regarding who initiated the violence. “The matter was captured on camera because it happened in front of the gas station and that has been viewed and that is what guided police’s action in terms of the charges that have been prepared,” ASP Smith confirmed.
Fellow officers are currently tracking his whereabouts to execute the arrest warrant.
