Farm structure destroyed by fire in Orange Walk District

By Belize Live News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a suspected case of arson following a report of a farm structure being destroyed by fire in Petville Village, Orange Walk District.

Fifty-four-year-old farmer Ricardo Escaraga reported that his plywood house, located on his farm, was burned sometime between April 26 and April 28.

The structure contained several farming items including salt blocks, plastic drums, herbicides, and irrigation equipment. A nearby well and water pump system were also affected.

Authorities processed the scene and say the investigation is ongoing as they seek to determine the cause of the fire.
