By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk are investigating the brutal killing of a 70-year-old farmer believed to be the victim of an aggravated burglary.
The deceased has been identified as Francisco Perfecto Garcia, a retired BSI worker of Orange Walk Town. His body was discovered on Monday afternoon in a bushy area near his farm located approximately three miles along Santa Martha Road.
Reports indicate that around 2:45 p.m., police responded to a missing person report. Upon arrival, officers were directed by a relative to Garcia’s farm, where they found his home ransacked and the back door open.
A search of the surrounding area led to the discovery of Garcia’s body about 130 feet from the house. He was found lying on his side, clad only in underwear, with multiple chop wounds to the face.
Police have since launched an investigation as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
