By Belize Live News Staff: A devastating road traffic accident in Orange Walk District has left three people dead and others injured, including children.
The incident occurred late Sunday night, April 19, 2026, along the Trinidad–August Pine Ridge Road. According to police, a Ford F-150 pickup traveling toward August Pine Ridge collided with a cane trailer attached to a Freightliner truck heading in the opposite direction.
The collision caused severe damage to the pickup, leaving three occupants dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as Celvin Cortez, Sherlyn Henriquez, and Bryon Magaña.
Several other passengers in the pickup sustained injuries and were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment. Two remain hospitalized in stable condition, while one child has since been released.
The truck driver, who was accompanied by two passengers, is cooperating with investigators and remains in police custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash as families and communities mourn the tragic loss of life.
