By Belize Live News Staff: Police in the Orange Walk District are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday night in Guinea Grass Village. Authorities report that 18-year-old Noe Fernando Batun, a construction worker, sustained gunshot injuries to the body and face during the incident.
According to initial investigations, Batun was socializing with several other men at the Hidden Cool Spot when a dispute escalated. A male suspect, identified as Rodel Cruz, reportedly returned to the location armed with a shotgun after being earlier removed from the premises.
Despite being denied entry, the suspect allegedly fired a shot through a fence opening, striking Batun. He was first taken to the Northern Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Police say the shooting may be connected to an earlier altercation involving the victim and the suspect at another location in the village. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are seeking the suspect.
