By Belize Live News Staff: A late-night incident in Trial Farm Village has left authorities concerned after a man allegedly attempted to ingest rat poison and later refused medical treatment.
Police say the situation unfolded Friday night when they received reports that 23-year-old Giovanni Aguilar had tried to consume rat poison at his family residence.
His brother reportedly intervened and removed the poison pack before Aguilar could fully ingest it.
However, Aguilar is believed to have consumed a small amount after licking poison residue from his hand.
Later that night, Aguilar was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where security personnel requested police assistance after he reportedly began causing a disturbance.
Officers said Aguilar told them he had taken the poison and did not want treatment.
He eventually left the hospital compound accompanied by relatives.
Authorities say the matter has been noted.
