Gunman opens fire from van in late-night Plues Street shooting

By Belize Live News Staff: A late-night shooting on Plues Street has left a Belize City man hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say the incident occurred shortly after 11:25 p.m. Thursday, when the victim was sitting inside his vehicle parked outside his residence.

Investigators report that a silver Caravan van with no license plates pulled up beside the vehicle, and a passenger inside allegedly fired a gunshot at the victim.

The injured man was quickly transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Crime Scene personnel processed the location and recovered a 9mm expended shell believed to be connected to the shooting.

Police say the suspects fled the area and investigations continue as authorities attempt to identify those responsible.
