JetBlue pulls out of Belize market amid restructuring

By Belize Live News Staff: JetBlue Airways will discontinue its direct service between New York’s JFK International Airport and Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) effective May 21, 2026.

The airline confirmed that the Belize route did not meet its performance expectations and is being cut as part of its “JetForward” transformation program aimed at boosting profitability.

JetBlue began flying to Belize in 2023, providing nonstop access from the northeastern United States — one of Belize’s key tourism markets.

A spokesperson said the company is reallocating aircraft to routes “where we can sustainably win.”

While the exit reduces direct connectivity from the New York market, Belize remains serviced by multiple U.S. carriers, and industry observers say the overall tourism impact is expected to be minimal.

JetBlue continues expanding in other markets as part of its restructuring strategy.
