Ford Ranger slams into Toyota Matrix in traffic collision

By Belize Live News Staff: A Sunday evening traffic accident near the San Lorenzo roundabout, Orange Walk District left two vehicles damaged after a Ford Ranger reportedly collided into the rear of a Toyota Matrix.

Police say the collision involved a red Ford Ranger (LP A3330) and a blue Toyota Matrix (LP D00635). The Ranger suffered bumper damage, a broken headlight and indicator, and a flat front tire. The Matrix sustained major rear damage including a dislodged bumper, broken back glass, and damage to the rear trunk.

The Ford Ranger was reportedly driven by Ian Bryan Dawson, 21, who told police the Matrix suddenly attempted to turn left into his lane without signaling. Dawson said he tried braking, but the pickup slid and struck the Matrix.

The Toyota Matrix was driven by Juan Enrique Rodriquez, 49, a taxi driver from Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk, who reportedly accepted responsibility. Both drivers agreed to settle the matter through insurance.

Police processed the area and completed a sketch plan. Both drivers were instructed to report to the Trial Farm Police Sub-Station.
