Motorcyclist charged for driving without insurance

Insurance

By Belize Live News Staff: A routine traffic stop in San Felipe Village has resulted in charges against a local motorcyclist.

Police report that during an evening patrol on January 3, officers stopped a motorcycle after conducting checks on the rider’s documents. While the rider held a valid driver’s license, further inspection revealed that the motorcycle was not covered by valid third party insurance and was not properly licensed.

The rider, a 27-year-old resident of San Felipe Village, was arrested and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station. There, he was informed of his rights and processed for the offences.

Police say the accused was charged for driving an uninsured and unlicensed motor vehicle. He was granted police bail in the sum of five hundred dollars with a surety and is scheduled to answer to the charges in court on Friday morning.

Authorities continue to remind motorists to ensure that all vehicles are properly licensed and insured before taking to the road.
