Teen injured in early-morning stabbing in Belize City

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize City police are investigating a stabbing incident that left an 18-year-old man hospitalized in the early hours of Friday, December 26, 2025.

According to official police reports, the department was alerted at approximately 4:45 a.m. by the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) control room regarding a stabbing victim who had arrived at the Accident and Emergency Unit.

Personnel from the Crimes Investigation Branch (CIB) attached to Precinct One responded to the hospital to conduct initial inquiries. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim suffering from apparent stab wounds to his right hand, left abdomen, left hip, and left chest area.

The victim has since been identified as Gustavo Artiaga, an 18-year-old Belizean construction worker of Belize City.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear at this time. Police have not yet released information regarding a possible motive or any suspects in connection with the incident.

Investigations into the matter continue.
