By Belize Live News Staff: A San Jose Nuevo Palmar woman reported a domestic incident on Sunday night in which she says her ex-common law husband assaulted her and threatened to kill her and her children.
According to the report, around 9:30 pm, the 31-year-old man arrived at her home appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He reportedly began making noise and demanding food. After lying down in a hammock, he later got up, accused her of messaging someone, and punched her twice in the left leg and once on her left arm.
The woman told police he then threatened her in Spanish, saying he would cut and kill her and her children, causing her to fear for her life. She says she pleaded with him until he eventually returned to the hammock and fell asleep.
A medico legal form later certified her injuries as harm. Police recorded her statement, obtained a warrant, and formally arrested and charged the man with harm and threats of death.
